School Capacity in Western Somerville

Starting a kid in Somerville schools in the next decade? Live in Western Somerville neighborhoods? Speak up now.

 
The city is planning to remove 1/3 of elementary school seats in the West half of Somerville in 2032. 

When this hits the ballot box, it will be bundled with building a new school for Winter Hill, which desperately needs it (been without for 3 years!!) We all agree that Winter Hill needs a new school as soon as possible, so we need to find an alternative before it gets to that point.

If you want to preserve walkable schools in West Somerville, tell your city councilor, school councilor, and mayor NOW to keep the Brown and seek state money for a 690 student school for Winter Hill - not 925 student.

 

If you hope to send kids to West or Kennedy, not Brown, this affects you too.

Those schools are already over-subscribed, and demand will increase by 30% +.
