When your budget is tight, it's all the more important to spend every dollar well.

Our city needs a 690 student school, to rebuild Winter Hill and provide much-needed swing space.

We don’t need a 925 student school - the city and mayor are choosing to spend more on a larger school right now, during times of tight budget, heavy city debt, and uncertainty.

Instead, we could be choosing to spend that extra cash on the real, urgent problems concerning our schools --- like staffing support for teachers who need more resources in their classrooms, help for struggling students to catch up to grade level, expanding afterschool availability, and providing after school financial assistance for families who cannot afford the rate but still need their kids in safe hands while they work.

Costco carries cinnamon by the pound, but that doesn’t mean you should buy it there - it’s wasteful, you won’t use it, it’s a bad use of money.

And just because it’s cheaper long-term to build a bigger school than multiple schools doesn’t mean it’s an efficient and responsible way to spend our money TODAY - or the right choice for our city. Let's build the school we need.
